Summary

As with many cyber threats, supply chain attacks are increasing in frequency and sophistication. Multiple entry points (tech vulnerabilities, phishing etc.) and access to large amounts of data across multiple organisations make supply chain attacks a popular choice for cyber criminals.

Despite this, action to raise awareness and reduce risk isn’t where it needs to be. The Government’s 2024 Cyber Security Breaches Survey reports that very few UK businesses set minimum security standards for their suppliers, and that just one in ten businesses say they review the risks posed by their immediate suppliers.
